This 24.75″ Green Tara statue is finished in a combination of 24K gold fire gilding and oxidized copper — the crown, jewels, lotus throne detailing, and ornamental highlights gilded in gold against the warm, aged copper of the body. At 24.75″ this is a substantial piece, suited to a formal shrine room or Dharma center where a seated figure of this scale can be properly appreciated. The Bodhisattva crown and jewels can be additionally embellished with turquoise and red coral stones at no extra charge — submit the preference before the order ships. The statue was handcrafted in Patan, Nepal by master Newar artisans using the traditional lost wax sculpting method, with the face hand-painted in precise detail. In Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Green Tara arose from a tear shed by Avalokiteshvara — the Bodhisattva of Compassion — as he contemplated the immensity of all suffering in the six realms. The tear fell into a lotus on the surface of a lake and Tara emerged from it, already enlightened, a direct emanation of compassion in its most active and responsive form. In Tibetan Buddhism she is regarded as a fully enlightened Buddha rather than a Bodhisattva — one who has permanently transcended samsara and who responds to the needs of devotees with the immediacy that only full enlightenment makes possible. Her mantra — Om Tare Tuttare Ture Svaha — is among the most widely recited in the Himalayan Buddhist tradition. Have questions? Her right hand displays the Varada mudra — the supreme gift-giving gesture, palm open toward devotees — offering protection and the fulfillment of sincere aspirations. Both her hands gently hold the stems of the blue utpala lotus flowers between the index finger and thumb as the flowers fully blossom over her shoulders, symbolizing the complete realization of enlightenment and the flowering of awakened wisdom. The Bodhisattva crown and elaborate jewelry of this statue reflect her Sambhogakaya form — the adorned, accessible expression of enlightened presence for the benefit of practitioners. Upon request we would be happy to adorn the crown and jewels of the statue with red coral and turquoise stones. This service is performed at no extra charge before delivery.
