This 18.5″ Green Tara statue depicts the Khadiravani form — Tara of the Khadira Acacia Forest — one of the most revered of the 21 Taras in Tibetan Buddhist tradition. The statue is partly fire gilded in 24K gold, with the Bodhisattva crown, jewels, double lotus throne detailing, and key ornamental elements gilded against an oxidized copper body. The crown and jewels can be additionally embellished with turquoise and red coral stones at no extra charge — submit the preference before the order ships. The statue was handcrafted in Patan, Nepal by master Newar artisans using the traditional lost wax sculpting method, with the face hand-painted to give the figure its characteristic expression of serene, ready-to-act compassion.Green Tara is the most universally beloved of all female Buddhist deities — the swift protector, the embodiment of active compassion, always ready to respond the moment her name is called. In Tibetan Buddhism she is regarded as a fully enlightened Buddha rather than a Bodhisattva, her pure land of Mt Potala a lush forest realm of waterfalls and flowering trees. The color green signifies speed and the capacity for immediate action — Green Tara does not deliberate; she moves.Tibetan Green Tara Statue FeaturesThe defining iconographic characteristic of this Green Tara statue is her posture: she sits in lalitasana — the “royal ease” pose — with her left leg folded in meditation and her right leg extended downward from the double lotus throne, foot resting on a smaller lotus blossom. This posture is not merely graceful; it is specifically designed to communicate her readiness. Unlike deities seated in the full lotus of deep absorption, Tara in lalitasana can rise instantly — she is poised at the threshold between meditation and action, always already on the verge of response. Explore Green Tara’s posture, mudra & attributes in our complete Tara statues guide. Her right hand displays the Varada mudra — the gift-giving or supreme generosity gesture, palm open and facing outward toward devotees — offering protection, blessings, and the fulfillment of aspirations. Her left hand holds the stem of the blue utpala lotus near the shoulder, the flower opening beside her — the utpala lotus is Tara’s signature emblem, symbolizing purity and her emergence from the compassion of Avalokiteshvara. The face is hand-painted with intricate precision, featuring the urna (third eye of wisdom) between the brows — the mark of an enlightened being’s capacity to perceive the nature of reality directly, beyond the reach of ordinary perception.
